Ice

Nothing says “the party is over” like running out of ice! This is one of those essential things that a person should always have enough of on hand for a party. ( I like to buy extra and put in coolers. I can then stash the coolers somewhere out of sight during the party- like out in the garage and if there are any leftovers, it keeps well in the freezer! ha )

Not only is ice essential for keeping beverages cold, it can be used to create beautiful presentations…

You can transform everyday beverages like lemonade, iced tea or soda into dazzling creations with easy-to-make flavored ice cubes!

For the beautiful ice cubes above, I dropped frozen raspberries into ice cube trays and substituted lemon-lime soda for the water. Once frozen, the cubes take on a sort of “flakey” appearance and make a stunning-looking presentation. Also, substituting a beverage for the water will keep your beverages from becoming diluted…

Here are some more ideas…

Take strawberries and kiwi and place them in ice cube trays then add your favorite carbonated beverage. Freeze solid until ready to serve…

Here is a way to keep sparkling white grape juice or a glass of white wine ice cold…frozen grapes!

Frozen grapefruit sections keep a glass of lemonade, Squirt or any other beverage nice and cold…

Do you like cold juice? Yum Yum :) But when it comes to apple or orange juice, it just doesn’t seem right putting ice in them…do you agree?  Why not try freezing apple wedges with apple juice? (please be sure to soak them in pineapple juice first to prevent the fruit from browning…) Freeze solid and serve with apple juice and a cinnamon stick!

Now, here’s an idea for keeping orange juice cold. Make little balls of orange sherbet, place them on a layer of plastic wrap on a cookie sheet. Freeze them solid and then place them in a glass when you are ready to use them. It doesn’t add much sweetness to the juice surprisingly, and it makes a beautiful presentation with a few mandarin oranges and a sprig of mint!

The ideas for this are endless! Have fun :)  Cheers!
